Excess Soya Warning

The Cancer council of NSW says soya foods may lower the risk of breast and prostate cancers "but only a little", and it does not recommend the consumption of concentrated soya products such as soya supplements. The council has warned women who have or have had breast cancer, that high dosages could interfere with thier treatment or stimulate cancer growth.  read statement from cancer council.

Trans fats are the new enemy 31-07-2006 Britian

Food Manufacturers ae being pressed to list all fats on thier products after research reveals "trans fats" are the new enemy in the battle against obesity.

Oxford University researchers say in the British Medical Journal this week that trans fats  - the solid fats found in margarines, biscuits, cakes and fast foods - should be included on food labelling to bring down levels of coronary heart disease.The UK Food Standards Agency is pressing for revision of labelling following US, Danish and Canadian moves to expose the levels of trans fats in foods.
